This week, the European Commission (EC) officially approved the European Research Council (ERC) 2021 work programme. This work programme was the first to be approved under Horizon Europe and will kick off the new framework programme with € 1.9 billion to be awarded to some 1000 top researchers to pursue frontier research.

How to apply? ERC grant applications can only be submitted in response to a Call for Proposals. The ERC has yearly calls for proposals covering all scientific fields. Erc grant 2021

An ERC grant can cover up to 100% of the total eligible direct costs of the research plus a contribution of 25% of the total eligible costs towards indirect costs. How to apply? February 16, 2021 IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND REVISION NOTES In response to a 2017 study from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), the Engineering Research Centers (ERC) program piloted a planning grant opportunity in 2018. This solicitation is a continuation of this pilot program.

You are welcome to register for these activities if you are planning to apply for an ERC Starting Grant in the 2021 call. On 22 October we have arranged an extra session to help you kick-start your proposal writing, and to receive feedback on your CV/Track Record. The session is in preparation for the ERC training camp in January.

ERC Scientific Council estimates that there is no Synergy Grant call in the ERC Work Programme 2021. This call will probably be included again in the Work Programme 2022. The Scientific Council’s intention is to launch this call in the summer of 2021 with a deadline in November of the same year.
